The National Kidney Foundation also hosts Spring Clinical Meetings that have educated more than 55,000 medical professionals about these diseases, and offer continuing educational credits. Remarkably, 80% of the charity’s budget goes directly toward programs related to their cause.

Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

Thanks to the philanthropic effort of successful actor Michael J. Fox, his organization funding research for Parkinson’s has since become the largest in the world for this specific disease. An impressive 89% of the charity’s cash budget is spent on research, costing only $7 to raise every $100.

Movember Foundation

One of the more entertaining ways to raise awareness for a good cause, Movember is an annual event where participants grow their moustaches for men’s health problems. Commonly associated with prostate cancer, the foundation also supports funding for mental health issues and other types of cancer, and strongly encourages men all over the world to receive regular checkups, and develop healthy lifestyles. The Movember Foundation’s ultimate goal is to increase the possibility of early cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment, thus decreasing the tragic number of lives these cancers claim every year. 83% of their earnings are spent on programs committed to such a cause.

American Red Cross

One of the more well known charitable organizations in the world, American Red Cross offers a variety of services for a wide range of patients. These services include poverty relief, communication and comfort for members of the military and their families, domestic relief, blood donations, international aid, and even educational programs on preparedness, health, and safety. A true leader in charity, this organization spends 90% of its cash budget on programs relating to all of the services they provide.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

With 84% of the organization’s earnings spent on charitable programs, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world-leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. With an A- rating on Charity Watch, this foundation has the highest percentage of contribution being used for the cause, and in 2015, received over $123 million in support from the public; an impressive number that shows just how devoted those are to finding a cure, and providing treatment for patients and their families.

Breast Cancer Research Foundation

 
As the highest rated breast cancer charity in the United States to date, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation contributes 90% of its earnings to programs and research dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer, and has since funded over 10 million hours of research since 1993. Working with researchers around the world, BCRF supports more than 250 men and women through grants to promote progress, and expand the number of potential research platforms committed to finding a cure. According to Charity Watch, the charity’s total contributions are now around $58 million.
